TEAM WRESTLING TOURNAMENT PAIRINGS ANNOUNCED
The pairings for the 16th Annual IHSAA Team Wrestling State Tournament were drawn this morning at the IHSAA Office in Indianapolis.
A total of 313 schools and 5,888 student-athletes begin sectional competition on Saturday, Jan. 29, in the individual tournament from which the top team at each site advances intact into the regional round of the separate team tournament. The team regionals begin on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
The winning team at each four-team regional will advance to the state finals on Saturday, Feb. 26, at Center Grove High School in Greenwood.
Crown Point, the top-ranked team in the latest poll from the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association, begins competition in its own nine-team sectional on Jan. 29. No. 2 Evansville Mater Dei will be one of nine teams at the Evansville Central Sectional and defending state champion Mishawaka, ranked eighth, will host a nine-team sectional as well.

Qualifiers: The championship team in the individual sectional tournament advances to the regional round of the team tournament.
Advancement: This is a single elimination tournament in which the winning team advances to the next round.

GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT PAIRINGS SHOW JAN. 30
First round sectional matchups in the 36th Annual IHSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament presented by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance will be announced Sunday, Jan. 30, beginning at 7 pm ET / 6 pm CT.
The state tournament pairings shows may be seen on television, heard on radio or viewed via webstream at www.ihsaatv.org.
Seven affiliates of the IHSAA Champions Television Network (listed below) will air the 90-minute show throughout the state originating from the Indianapolis studios of WTTV-4, the network’s flagship.
Listeners also may tune into any of the affiliates of the IHSAA/Methodist Sports Medicine Championship Radio Network (also listed below).
At approximately 8:30 pm ET / 7:30 pm CT, complete brackets will be available on the IHSAA website.
The boys basketball tournament draw is scheduled for Sunday, February 20 at 7 pm ET / 6 pm CT.

Castle Athletic Director John Evers, who was one of nine individuals to receive Distinguished Service Awards from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) in December, has announced he is retiring at the end of the school year. Evers has had a hand in all five of the school’s state titles having first served as an assistant coach on the 1982 Class 3A state championship football team. Since taking over as AD in 1994, the school has captured another football crown as well as titles in girls basketball, softball and boys soccer.
South Bend Clay wrestling coach Al Hartman won his 400th career match on December 9, 2010 with a dual victory over South Bend Washington. Coach Hartman is in his 21st season as Clay's head coach.
Wabash senior guard Kaleigh Hensley scored a school record 41 points in a 71-41 win over Warsaw on Dec. 7. The previous mark of 38 was set in 1988-89 by Michelle Miller. Hensley also past the 1,400 point mark during her record setting performance.
Hamilton Heights senior guard Libby Ogden scored the 1,000th career point in this past Saturday's 91-39 win over Peru. Ogden now has 1,006 career points. Ogden has already signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at IPFW next year. She is coached by her father Kurt Ogden.
Rex Peckinpaugh, head coach at New Castle High School, coached in his 1,000th dual meet during the New Castle Invite on Saturday, December 18th. The Trojans won the Invite running Coach Peckinpaugh's overall dual meet record to 796-205-3. His overall meet victories rank him third nationally in dual meet wins.
Center Grove’s boys basketball team won the City Securities Hall of Fame Classic at New Castle Fieldhouse on Dec. 30, in an 88-82 double overtime thriller over Bloomington South ending the Panthers’ 53-game regular season winning streak. It was the third-longest run in Indiana high school boys basketball history. The top 10 regular season winning streaks in boys state history include:
