IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (9/9/24)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

With the new school year moving along, now may be a good time to reflect on the first few weeks of school and make sure you are finding a good balance between your academics and athletics.

Whether you are playing a fall sport or getting ready for a winter or spring sport, putting a priority on your grades should always come first.  Falling behind in the classroom is no fun and getting caught up if you do so can be difficult.

Over the years, as I have spoken with former student-athletes, one of the regrets that often surfaces is that most wish they had concentrated on their studies more--which would have opened the doors to more college choices for them.

If your desire is to attend college, academics must be in the forefront of your mind each and every day.  Just like with your athletic practices, devote a certain amount of time each day to your classroom work.

Coaches know that those who achieve in the classroom often are the same ones whom they can count on in practice and games!
