IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (9/30/24)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

One of the reasons most student-athletes play sports is because they enjoy competing against others.  Most athletes will agree that through competition they find out what they are capable of doing, and at the same time it allows them to dream about how much better they can become.  In other words, they are competitors!

What type of competitor are you?  How much do you care about winning and losing?  Does winning drive you to practice more?  Do you hate losing so much that you will work even harder?

There is a saying I like, "Your biggest competitor isn't the other guy/gal or the other team.  It's who you see in the mirror every day."

You have to remain positive and focused if you want to improve.  Don't let doubts or other people get you off track.  There are so many other distractions in life that can take your time and energy away from what you want to achieve.  You have the power every day to make the right choices, put in the effort and achieve your best. Keep working!
