IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (9/23/24)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics In Indiana"

Have you set goals for yourself in the classroom and for your athletic endeavors?  Have you wondered why you should even take the time to set goals?  I believe every student-athlete should take the time to write down their goals for a semester/year/career.  Why?  Goal setting helps everyone quantify objectives they want to achieve during a period of time.

Becoming faster may be your objective, but swimming or running three seconds faster by the end of the season is a goal you can work towards and measure.  You want to throw more strikes, but setting a goal of pitching 3 miles per hour faster is an objective goal.

As you write down your measurable goals, make sure you include a time frame and show progress toward those goals.  As you develop, your goals will likely change and more than likely you will have achievable goals and stretch goals that will be much harder to attain.

Whether you are on the athletic field, classroom or workplace, measurable goals will be important in your success.  More than likely you will work harder and be more driven once those goals are written down!
