IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (3/25/25)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

No matter your age or sport, all student-athletes are striving to become the champion of their sport.  The word "champion" is defined as "a person who has defeated or surpassed all rivals in a competition, especially in sports."

Many high school student-athletes have won a championship of some sort in their youth.  The thrill of winning often propels young athletes to work harder to win again.  In your quest to win another championship, you will fail over and over again-the competition is greater, and the odds are stacked against you.

Mohammed Ali, one of the greatest boxers and athletes of all time, didn't win every fight.    He competed for decades.  He once said, "I hated every minute of training, but I said don't quit.  Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."

Ali won some and lost some, but in the end, because of his effort and attitude, he will always be remembered as a champion!
