IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (12/16/24)
"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
As you begin winter break, it is a great time for you to take some time to reflect on your performance in the classroom and in your sport.
As you get older and join the work force, evaluations and job performance will be evaluated at least once a year, if not more often. Why not do the same now, whether you are in season or not.
Honestly, your teachers and coaches are constantly evaluating your performance. In the classroom, your test scores gauge your performance. In sports, it is how you execute during your game or match that counts the most.
My advice is to give yourself an honest review. How are your test scores? Are they reflective of your effort? Do they reflect your true ability? Could you improve? Do the same evaluation in your sport. If you are in season, how are you playing? Do you show up prepared to work and get better? Are you improving in the things your coaches are teaching? The same applies if you are out of season.
It is never too late to make a change, work harder, and improve in an area that needs improvement. Come back from the winter break with a great attitude and a winner's mentality!
