IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (10/7/24)
"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
Quite a few college football teams have started a season 6-0, but this is a first for Indiana University. The coach, team, alumni and community are fully engaged in supporting their team, attending the games and believing this season will be special.
Winning is contagious and although there have been many losing seasons for the Hoosiers, this year is different, and I am sure the attitudes in the locker room are different. The team is playing for themselves and everyone in those stands--who have come to cheer loud and proud.
Whatever your team, your sport--how can you build that kind of momentum for your season? How could your school and community make a difference in the outcomes of your games or matches?
As a leader in your school, attend other sporting events of your classmates. Encourage others to be there cheering for your teams. Ask the booster club how you can help drive attendance to all the sports for your school. Support for your teams can and will make a difference on the field of play.
It is unlikely that IU will go undefeated, but the support for the Hoosiers is growing due to their success. Your school can work to build that same support for all your sports teams!
