IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (10/28/24)
"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
Have you ever thought about how your high school team will perform after you graduate? Will they be better or worse? Will they win more or struggle somewhat?
Your objective should be to leave your program in a better place than where it was when you first started. That would be the ultimate compliment, the result being that you had a positive influence. How can you do this?
First, show leadership on and off the court/field of play. Whether in the classroom, or in practice or games-be supportive and show respect to teachers, coaches and teammates. Treat underclassmen the way you like to be treated. Finally, give 100% effort every day regardless of what others are doing. Your consistent effort may rub off on those that you never expected.
You are likely realizing that you will be on your athletic team for a short period of time. High school comes and goes so quickly. Make everyday count. You do not want to look back someday and wonder about what could have been!
