TERRE HAUTE - Cameron Todd won the individual championship and the Carmel Greyhounds repeated as team winner during the 78th Annual IHSAA Boys Cross Country State Finals.

Todd covered the 5,000 meter LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, also known as Cross Country Town USA, in a blazing 14:55.5.

The Brebeuf Jesuit senior, who finished third in last year's race and was the Braves fifth scoring runner during their team title year in 2021, finished nearly eight seconds faster than the closest finisher and became his school's first cross country state champion.

It was the second-fastest time on this course at state after 14:48.8 in 2011 by Futsum Zienasellassie of North Central of Indianapolis.

Will Conway of Floyd Central finished as the runner-up in 15:03.3, the highest finisher for a Highlander boys runner in school history. Sam Quagliaroli of Fishers was third in 15:06.0 and Carmel's Tony Provenzano ended fourth in 15:06.6.

Provenzano led the way for his teammates who claimed their second consecutive team title and the school's 18th overall and its fifth under head coach Colin Altevogt.

Carmel's 76 points easily outdistanced the field with Fishers' 185 points good for state runner-up this year. The 109 point difference was the largest margin of victory since 1981 and third largest in state finals history.

Brownsburg's 218 points earned them third place, the school's highest finish ever, Zionsville was fourth with 232 points and Hamilton Southeastern rounded out the top five with 242 points.
