Parker Amet Post-Secondary Scholarship
As a symbol for inclusivity and kindness, the IHSAA and IHSAA Foundation are honored to partner with friends of the 2016 Carmel High School Prom King to award the Parker Amet Post-Secondary scholarship to one partner athlete who participated in their school's Champions Together program.
Announced in 2021, the Parker Amet scholarship annually awards $1,000 of financial support to a partner athlete who continues the work of the scholarship's name. These recipients are leaders within their schools and champions for a better community.
These future and current leaders have demonstrated high character, ability to work alongside and support others, and above all else, high moral character.

Practice Inclusivity with Parker Amet and the IHSAA
Born with a condition called Microcephaly and with it Cerebral Palsy, Parker Amet grew to be an energetic and friendly student at Carmel High School until his graduation in 2016. A beloved friend to many, Amet was known for his big smile and active participation in Unified Sports and Special Olympic programming throughout his high school career.
Due to his engaging and contagious personality, Amet's popularity and impact grew each day. His senior year, Amet was so well-liked and respected that he was selected as the Prom King at Carmel High School.
Parker served as an inspiration to other to practice inclusivity and kindness, and did so himself each and every day. His funny, witty, loving and honest personality still resonate through the halls of his alma mater and as a beacon for all to strive for.
The Awards
The selected Parker Amet Post-Secondary Scholarship recipients will be honored and receive support at the IHSAA Foundation Impact Awards on Thursday, April 17th at Gridiron Hall. Additionally, these recipients will be celebrated at the Special Olympics Luncheon.
Scholarship Criteria
- Recipient must be a Unified Partner Athlete.
- The recipient must be a graduating senior or in her/his final year at an IHSAA member school.
- Recipient must have participated in the Champions Together program for at least two (2) years (2 years = Sr./Jr., not just 2 unified sport seasons in 1 year).
- Recipient must show team spirit, leadership, sportsmanship, and character.
- The recipient must be planning to attend post-secondary education (4-year college, 2-year college, trade/technical school) in Indiana and demonstrate a financial need.
- It is preferred the recipient played in both Unified Flag Football and Unified Track and Field.
- It is preferred the recipient be a 1st generation family member to attend post-secondary education.
Application Process
Applications for the Parker Amet Scholarship are available on the IHSAA portal website (www.myihsaa.net) each school year. Member school principals and athletic directors will be notified each year when the application become available. The member school is responsible for establishing the process by which its nominee is selected. A member school may nominate only one student-athlete per year and should submit the application to the IHSAA by February 14, 2025.
The school Principal or Athletic Director should initiate the nomination process. To nominate an athlete, click here to login and complete the application. After completing the form, the information will be electronically sent to the nominated student. Once the student completes their section, the form will be electronically returned to the Principal/Athletic Director for a final review and submission to the IHSAA.
