IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week
"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
I recently read an article in Golf Digest where an unnamed caddy on tour was talking about the relationship between PGA players and their interactions with their caddies.
While the caddy stated there are some tense moments during every round, there remains a mutual respect of each other doing their respective jobs during a round of golf. This caddy said, "Looking like a jerk doesn't mean you are a jerk", speaking about players on the tour.
It is a great reminder how important image and attitude is for any athlete. If you are perceived one way, it is nearly impossible to convince others that you are a better person than you portray.
How would others describe you on the field/court of play? Can you be focused and intense without demonstrating poor sportsmanship? Your attitude will be remembered long after your abilities. Make sure you are remembered for both in a positive way!
