"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
Players react to losses in a variety of ways. Some move on quickly while others let the loss linger for a few days.
How do you react when you lose? Is your disappointment short-lived or does it bother you for a while?
This is the time of year for high school basketball that a loss ends your season. There will be some very tough losses. A former coach that I respect said, "Give me players that really hurt when they lose, and I will have a team that will be ready to play against anyone."
One of the most telling traits of winner is that he/she hates to lose more than they love to win. In this day and age of AAU and club sports, athletes play a multitude of games and losses tend to run off their shoulders. However, over the years, great teams and great players have been driven by a season-ending loss. The bad taste from a previous season goes a long way in fueling inspiration in the off-season and the coming season ahead.
Use your losses to drive your mental and physical preparation for your next season!
