IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (2/19/24)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

I am sure you have heard the name Caitlin Clark.  The Iowa basketball sensation has been selling out arenas wherever she plays and drawing television viewership that has the attention of the broadcast networks.  

She leads the nation in scoring and assists this season, and just became the all-time leading scorer in women's NCAA basketball history. 

Her records are many, but what she has accomplished is so much more.  She has brought national attention to women's college basketball and has changed the game for the better.  Her impact is nothing short of monumental and I would compare her to names like Tiger Woods, Pele, Stephen Curry or Shohei Ohtani.  What they have in common is that they did something so dominant that they actually changed their sport.  Let that sink in for a minute.

Caitlin Clark is a role model for so many kids, but young girls who look up to her will want to try basketball. I expect more and more girls will play this great sport just because of Caitlin. The average fan loves to see a great team or an electrifying individual and with Caitlin Clark you get to see both!
