IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (12/12/23)
"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
Last week I watched the Heisman Award presentation on ESPN, given to college football's most outstanding player. I was so impressed by the four finalists, their careers and families.
While Jayden Daniels of LSU won the award, the other very talented finalists were Marvin Harrison Jr (Ohio State), Bo Nix (Oregon) and Michael Penix Jr (Washington).
All four of the finalists endured challenges during their college careers and three transferred to other schools. Their parents spoke about the determination of their sons, their commitment to the sport and academics, and how proud they are of the young men they have become.
Each of their college coaches was interviewed as well. If you are wondering what it takes to become an elite athlete--listen to what these coaches had to say about their player. While each player is athletically gifted, they all went beyond what is normal to develop their abilities and skills.
To become exceptional, you must do exceptional things. If you are looking for inspiration in your sport, read about any of these finalists and what their paths looked like to reach this level. It could be instrumental for your improvement in your sport!
