IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (11/28/22)
"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
Recently while on a cruise, I was taking my morning walk. As I approached a "Crew Only" entrance, I noticed a staff member stopped in the hallway to make sure I did not enter.
I started thinking that this person didn't know me and as a result, didn't trust me.
The same is true in the classroom and the field/court of play. If your teacher/coach does not know you, it is hard for them to put their trust in you.
Your first step with any coach or teacher should be to earn their trust. Without trust, there is no way to build the relationship necessary for you to succeed in the classroom or on your sports team.
You know you are there when your teacher/coach has confidence that you will do what is right, therefore, they no longer have to look over their shoulder to make sure that you are!
