IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (10/23/23)
"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
Making the transition from the freshman or junior varsity team to the varsity squad can be a challenging step for any student-athlete. The competition is bigger, stronger and faster.
How can you make that transition smoother? How can you get better prepared and ready to compete?
The best advice I can give is to be like a sponge. Soak everything in. Don't act like you know everything you need to--but instead listen intently to your coaches. Seek guidance from others who are more experienced. Don't get complacent or comfortable with what you have accomplished so far but strive to get better every day. Put in the work and don't take shortcuts.
Like any goal in life, your results will likely be the outcome of the work, effort and attitude you put forth. Making the varsity squad is a special accomplishment and worth the hours of practice!
