IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (1/8/24)
"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
Indianapolis Colts football fans suffered a heartbreaking loss last weekend to the Houston Texans, ending their season.
There were many opportunities for the Colts to come out with the win, but the season was over after an incomplete pass on fourth and one inside the two-minute mark.
Running back Tyler Goodson was the intended target and took the loss harder than anyone, after being elevated to the team roster less than three weeks ago.
Goodson said, "Honestly, I was just feeling like a failure. I know I'm not a failure, I'm gonna just state that...I just gotta go back to the drawing board, just keep working on my craft and come back next year."
Every student-athlete will fail on a play from time to time--no one is perfect. But it does not mean you are a failure and Goodson received a great deal of support from his teammates and coach after the game. The pass wasn't perfect, the call on fourth down was the choice of the coach. The Colts were in this position based on the plays for 58 minutes prior to this call.
Winners have failed over and over again. They just work harder and harder for continued improvement!
