IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (1/22/24)
"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"
Who's got it better than us? Nooooo-body!
This was the family saying of the Harbaugh family, started by the father of John (Michigan head coach) and Jim (Baltimore Ravens head coach), Jack Harbaugh.
The root of this rally cry is to remind the boys to always be grateful, a message they have subsequently instilled in their players.
In the early days, the family had only one car, and often Jack would say no car today, grab a basketball---100 dribbles with the right, 100 with the left. Let's go! So, the boys would follow, and their dad would ask,
Who's got it better than us?" The boys trailing behind would chant "Noooo-body!"
John and Jim Harbaugh have reflected that they grew up modestly, sharing a bedroom, sharing each other's stories and dreams. They grew up grateful for everything they had, with the mindset that they had everything they needed, and it was more than enough.
It is a choice to be thankful and appreciative for all that you have in your life. It doesn't matter how much or how little you possess--it is just a reminder to make the most of what you have!
