IHSAA Issues Revised Four Class Realignment

Posted: February 22, 2011

IHSAA ISSUES REVISED FOUR CLASS REALIGNMENT
Following notification from a current member school that it plans to withdraw from Association membership at the end of this school year, the IHSAA is issuing a revised four class alignment for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 school years to replace the one released on Feb. 7.

Holy Cross School, located in Terre Haute and with the smallest enrollment in the membership with 45 students, has notified Commissioner Bobby Cox of its intention to withdraw following the 2010-11 school year.

With this development, a revised version of the four-class alignment, linked below, is being issued and directly affects the classification of two schools. Tipton, which would have been the smallest school in Class 3A, now drops down to Class 2A where it had been in the previous cycle. Also affected is Springs Valley, the smallest school in Class 2A, which now moves into Class A where it had previously resided.

Holy Cross did not play football or soccer so the respective five class and two class alignments for those sports remain unchanged. A revised list of schools that will change classes for the next two school years is included below.

Sectional groupings will be announced this spring.
