Certification Process

How to move from a registered official to a CERTIFIED OFFICIAL:

  • Be eligible during or after the second year as a licensed official in a sport;
  • Score 90% or above on the most recent certification test in that sport;
  • Attend the IHSAA sponsored rules interpretation meeting that sport for the year
  • Attend the IHSAA sponsored certification clinic in that sport in the year of the certification.

Certification clinics and tests are given every two years. Check your IHSAA Officials Handbook for the rotation

Officials who plan to apply to work the tournament series in any sport will need to be certified to enter and advance through the tournament.
